Globalization is changing economic boundaries. The competition for talent and jobs has accelerated in this 21st Century economy. To strengthen their competitive advantage, communities are joining forces and working regionally. Regions are defined by a diverse group of industries, supported by infrastructure, investment and availability of local talent. Leadership brings it all together.
Wired65 has partnered with the Bingham Fellows to host a gathering of regional leaders from a 26-county area, reaching across the Ohio River along I-65 and spanning east and west from the corridor. Findings will be presented that assess the region’s unique economic and human capital strengths and weaknesses, and offer ideas for regional action to ensure we're competitive in the 21st Century economy. This process will lead to the formation of a Regional Competitiveness Strategy – an economic analysis and action plan that will lay the foundation for a regional vision for the next 10-20 years.
We will hear from economic development consultants who emphasize that talent, innovation and place are the key elements of success for regions, and we’ll hear from a leading voice in the “next generation” of talent. In addition, best practices from other regional experiences will be shared and we’ll take time to network and build common ground among diverse, rural and urban segments of the region.
Wired65
WIRED – Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development
–is a federal initiative designed to integrate economic and talent development activities
in order to transform regional economies. Wired65 is a federally-funded project
managed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Lincoln Trail Area Development District

Bingham Fellows
The Bingham Fellows is the Leadership Louisville Center’s
community action program and for nearly 20 years has provided creative leadership
solutions to some of the region’s most pressing issues. The 2008 class has focused
on building regional cooperation and leadership.
Regional Competitiveness Strategy The Regional Competitiveness Strategy will provide a blueprint for positioning the region for the development, retention, and recruitment of talent. The work will focus on identifying new opportunities and supporting key sectors of the regional economy, as well as identifying the factors that influence the talent available to support economic competitiveness.
